The vintage saris/textiles collection is an exclusive collection of products that holds a special place in Reshma's heart. When she started this project, her mother and grandmother generously donated many of their saris for her to use so she could pursue her passion. Some of these saris date back to the 1970s, and are of multiple styles and fabrics from several different parts of India. Reshma clearly remembers her mom and grandma wearing them to various occasions over time, so this process of carrying those memories forward through our bags has not only been rewarding, but extremely nostalgic. Over time, other family members and friends heard about what she was doing with Made With a Purpose and soon, Reshma had more saris on her hands than she could manage to bring to India. She eventually did it over several trips, but getting them from one side of the world to the other proved more eventful than she could have imagined. From storing saris in a random guesthouse in Nepal while she went trekking in the Himalayas, to traveling with suitcases full of saris all throughout SE Asia and spending countless dollars on exta luggage fees, to shipping boxes full of saris to a "trusted" designer in Delhi who ended up "losing" over 30 of her precious heirloom saris... eventful doesn't even begin to describe the adventures. But as with all great stories, this one has a happy ending and Reshma is beyond excited that the remaining saris eventually made their way to Vrindavan into the loving hands of the MWP ladies. The saris are now being upcycled into love-filled bags handmade just for you!
